A glass clock with a symmetric news-release window

A position can be permitted to remain open while its eventual gain is subject to a news rule. That distinction is easy to miss in a short list of allowed styles. Read the simulated funded qualification alongside the headline, especially if your strategy places orders around scheduled releases.

Map the window to an actual clock

For an illustrative release at 13:30 UTC, a 5-minute window spans 13:25 to 13:35 UTC. A trade opened or closed inside that interval can fall under the simulated funded rule. Those times illustrate the calculation; they are not a current economic calendar entry or a recommendation to trade outside a particular release.

Use a calendar with a clear time zone and confirm the platform's timestamp convention. Local clocks can change for daylight saving while UTC does not. A phone calendar, chart label and order statement can therefore appear to disagree unless their time zones are reconciled. Record the release time in one convention in your journal.

Check entries and exits, including automatic ones

The rule concerns trades opened or closed around the event. A pending order may become a live position during the window, and a stop-loss or take-profit may execute inside it without a fresh manual click. Review the whole order lifecycle rather than treating a pre-existing order as automatically outside the rule.

Do not remove a protective exit simply to avoid a rule timestamp. That could turn a manageable position into a larger loss. Plan the exposure before the event: whether the trade fits the simulated funded conditions, whether pending orders should remain, and what happens if execution occurs during the window. Preserve risk controls rather than improvising around a release.

Identify which market the event affects

A release can influence more than the symbol named in a calendar. A currency announcement may affect several pairs sharing that currency; a major macro event can also move indices or metals. The account's rule definition and event classification should settle applicability. Do not invent your own exemption because the instrument is not a currency pair.

If the relevant calendar or instrument scope is unclear, ask for clarification with the event name, scheduled timestamp, symbol and account programme. A general answer that news is allowed does not resolve whether a particular simulated funded gain is eligible. Keep the reply with the trade plan so that you are not relying on memory later.

Eligibility and market risk are separate

Even a trade outside a restricted interval can face wider spreads, slippage or abrupt price changes around news. A stop distance based on quiet-market behaviour may not produce the same realised loss. Estimate planned risk with costs and a buffer, then decide whether your tested strategy supports the conditions.

Several open symbols can respond to one event at once. Record combined exposure to the underlying driver rather than counting each position as an independent idea. An economic calendar is therefore part of the account risk check as well as the rule check. It does not predict the direction or size of the market's response.

A practical pre-release review

Before the session, list relevant high-impact events, their UTC times and the simulated funded window. Check manual positions, pending orders and every automated strategy that can open or close exposure. If you cannot supervise a system, its configuration should already express what it may do around the event.

Afterwards, reconcile actual opening and closing timestamps with the account statement. Keep a note of costs and execution differences as well as any eligibility adjustment. Review the current simulated funded rules before the next event. A clear routine is more useful than a blanket claim that news trading is either unrestricted or entirely prohibited.

Key takeaways

  • Simulated funded gains can be adjusted even though news trading is allowed.
  • Check entries, exits and triggered pending orders against the same time convention.
  • Keep stops and account protection intact; plan exposure before the event.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions about this guide.

No. MultiFunded allows it, with a simulated funded-account condition on gains from trades opened or closed inside the high-impact news window.

Yes. A stop-loss, take-profit or automated close has an execution timestamp, so check it against the simulated funded rule.

Do not treat the window as a reason to abandon risk controls. Plan the position and its eligibility before the release instead.

Check the rules. Then choose.

Compare the complete conditions before paying for a simulated account.
