The Equity Protector
Updated October 2026 · 2 min read
What the protector does
The 2% Equity Protector is a simulated funded account safeguard. When its equity-drawdown threshold is reached, losing positions are closed automatically. It applies to the simulated funded stage of every programme, including Instant from the start.
It is not an evaluation-stage rule. An evaluation trade remains subject to its loss limits and your trade management without this simulated funded safeguard. The protector also does not replace a strategy's own position sizing or exit planning.
Protector action and a breach are different
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Equity Protector | Closes losing positions at its threshold; not itself an account breach. |
| Perte journalière | Uses the higher balance or equity at midnight UTC; equity below the day's line breaches the account. |
| Perte maximale | Uses the account stage's static or trailing floor; equity below that floor breaches the account. |
Equity Protector
- What it does
- Closes losing positions at its threshold; not itself an account breach.
Perte journalière
- What it does
- Uses the higher balance or equity at midnight UTC; equity below the day's line breaches the account.
Perte maximale
- What it does
- Uses the account stage's static or trailing floor; equity below that floor breaches the account.
If the protector acts while the account remains within its other rules, that action alone does not close the account. If a separate daily or maximum-loss limit is exceeded, the account can still breach. Do not assume the protector guarantees protection from a loss-limit breach or a particular execution price.
Understand your remaining loss room
For a $100,000 2-Step Standard account, the 10% static maximum-loss floor is $90,000. Its daily-loss line is calculated separately using 5% of the day's baseline. These are distinct calculations, not alternative settings for the protector.
After an automatic close
Review the trade history, the current account status and the remaining daily and maximum-loss room before placing another trade. If an EA manages the account, check how it responds to a position being closed outside its own exit logic.
For a disputed or unclear closure, send support the account ID, stage, relevant trade IDs, timestamps and the status or notification shown. Ask which control triggered. The published rule does not specify every internal measurement detail, so do not substitute an assumed baseline for the account's displayed information.
